Solo’s uses Mabinogi Crowdfunding Video to raise ~£600K on Crowdcube

Having spent the past decade building Secret Spa into Uber for the Beauty Industry – the talented team at Solo set their sites on expanding their all-in-one app for the self-employed from beauty and wellness to professionals of all trades.  From Personal Trainers to Music Teachers, From Housecleaners to Handymen, this lightweight but full service ERP provides everything a solo entrepreneur needs to run their business including Booking, Billing, Marketing and Professional Website support.

This equity fundraising campaign on CrowdCube was a huge success thanks to Solo’s huge network of Secret Spa professionals who

Shared the crowdfunding investment videos created by Mabinogi Productions

on social channels and LinkedIn —  netting ~£600,000.

They didn’t just keep posting the same video though, instead they used the suite of videos provided by Mabinogi as part of their Premium package to A/B test as well as appeal to different decision levers / emotions.

In another series of posts, they then used a 60 second version focused on ROI that leaned heavily into the size of the market, trends for the rising numbers of self employed professionals and the huge potential returns for the company as it strives to become ‘Shopify for Services’

One of the most interesting things about the campaign as well was seeing how this equity fundraise did more than just raise the capital for continued growth.

The wide reach of the campaign brought in interest from potential industry partners who were looking to start a Joint Venture with Solo.

These potential partners were massively impressed by Solo’s all-in-one business in a box software and wanted to roll the product out in new market sectors such as construction and maintenance and in new territories such as Australia.

This potential for growth in their user base combined with their fresh equity to fund expansion should prove to be an exponential boost to Solo’s mission to become a ‘Shopify for Services’.
