Metallobio – Seedrs Crowdfunding Video – Fighting AMR

As mentioned over the years, Heart & Mind crowdfunding videos are our favourite. Anything that helps people and the planet, we’re ready to enthusiastically join the team and see you overfund.

So when offered the opportunity to create a Seedrs Republic crowdfunding investment video to help tackle one of the most pressing health issues facing the world – Antimicrobial Resistance – we didn’t think twice.

The compassion and vision of the team was inspiring.  Even when tragedy befell Dr. Kirsty Smitten, the brilliant founder and scientist behind the antibiotic breakthrough, the team didn’t give up on her dream of defeating Antimicrobial Resistance aka Superbugs.

If Metallobio’s human trials prove successful, it will mark the release of the first new set of Antibiotics in over 40 years.  Something which everyone involved will be forever proud of contributing to – ourselves as filmmakers included.

Kirsty will be forever missed but we promise to help continue her fight and bring her discovery to fruition with the aim of saving millions of lives each year that are lost to AMR.

What was most surprising about this campaign though was the acceleration of the funding once launched.  Like most equity crowdfunding campaigns the team at Metallobio had lined up 75% of the target amount before going public. This is usually the result of a large anchor investor as well as additional Angels who have supported previous funding rounds.  This initial ‘splash’ is crucial to gaining interest in your first few days after going live. On Republic / Seedrs, new campaigns are give 3 days at the ‘top of the page’ to alert investors to the new offering.  This is helpful but no guarantee that the crowd is going to stampede to your fundraise.

The key to triggering investment from this interest is to quickly and effectively communicate to investors what the problem is,

why they should care and most importantly what they poise to gain from investment.

In the case of Metallobio, AMR is a massive and imminent problem that could soon affect anyone with anything from Sepsis to a scratched knee.  By investing in Metallobio you could literally help save humanity from suffering another devastating pandemic and share in both the public gratitude and financial rewards.

Quite a good hook if you ask us!

So despite a slow start, investors soon understood the threat that is AMR and the shocking lack of new antibiotics – a potent combination that indicated a huge opportunity.  Momentum began to build on both the message boards on Republic as well as on LinkedIn where our suite of videos went viral being shared from investor to investor.

Before the team knew it they had smashed 100% and were well on their way to massive overfund.

All thanks in no small part to Mabinogi’s High Value Investor strategy. 

One of the most curious things as well was the number of people who participated in the overfunding AFTER already investing in the initial equity raise. This confirms our belief that the message and mission which we hammered home with video after video and post after post was something that touched both their hearts and minds.
